Mr. Saffer is an experienced real estate attorney, who has handled numerous complex transactions and has litigated business and real property issues in courts throughout West Virginia. He currently maintains an extensive title research and analysis practice throughout West Virginia for several natural gas exploration and production companies. This practice includes analysis of fee and leasehold titles, including issues arising from deed reservations, tax sales and intestate succession. Mr. Saffer also represents commercial property owners and tenants in leasing and development matters.

In his spare time, Mr. Saffer enjoys playing tennis as a United States Tennis Association (USTA) member. Mr. Saffer is also an old-time fiddle musician and plays at various venues and events throughout the region.

Some of Mr. Saffer's representative experience includes the following:

  • Reviewing and certifying oil and gas titles in counties throughout West Virginia.
  • Representing a West Virginia-based regional movie theatre chain in regard to business, litigation and real estate matters.
  • Serving as real estate counsel in the transfer of a $25 million industrial research and development park from a multi-national chemical company to the State of West Virginia.
  • Representing landowners in leasing oil and gas rights.
  • Representing chemical companies in the disposition of former manufacturing property.
  • Representing clients in substantial commercial collection matters.
  •  Litigation of cases to verdict and summary judgment on real property and business matters in West Virginia courts.
  • Ancillary administration of estates.

  • Cadle v. Riffle et al., Civil Action No. 03-C-2039 (Mason County, W.Va.) Right of way dispute; Summary judgment obtained for client on public road issue.
  • Resorts Convenience Shops, Inc. v. Intrawest Resorts, Inc., et al., Civil Action No. 00-C-25 (Pocahontas County, W.Va.) Commercial lease dispute verdict obtained at trial, defendents' appeal petition denied by Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.
  • Skaggs v. Wilkinson, Civil Action No. 01-C-1563 (Kanawha County, W.Va.) Trespass and damage claim against adjacent landowner; Verdict obtained at arbitration.
