Joseph S. Beeson, a Member of Robinson & McElwee, has been presented with the Defense Lawyer of the Year award by the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia (DTCWV). This award is presented to a DTCWV member who has demonstrated ethical, personal and professional conduct consistent with the ideals of the organized defense bar, who has made a significant contribution to its goals and objectives and whose service is truly distinguished.
A founding member of Robinson & McElwee PLLC, Beeson has nearly forty years of experience as an attorney in Charleston. His practice primarily focuses on civil litigation with an emphasis on toxic exposure cases, and he has been involved in the defense of clients in asbestos cases for over 20 years.
Beeson is active in many community organizations; he has served a 4-year term as Chair of the Board of Directors for West Virginia Independent Colleges and Universities, a 7-year term as Chairman (and nearly 20 combined years as member) of the Board of Trustees at WV Wesleyan College and he has been a member and past-President of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Fund for the Arts of the Kanawha Valley. Beeson has also served as the Moderator of the Board of United Disciples of Christ Church and he has served on the Regional Board of the Christian Church of West Virginia.
