Mr. Yaussy appears before administrative agencies and courts of record on a wide range of environmental and natural resource issues, and federal black lung claims. Some of his more recent litigation has involved NPDES and air pollution control permits, underground storage tank release liability, natural gas pooling petitions, timber severance contracts, natural gas and coalbed methane drilling rights, and flooding lawsuits.
As counsel for the West Virginia Manufacturers Association and the West Virginia Oil & Natural Gas Association, Mr. Yaussy comments on rulemaking and negotiates with state agencies on public policy issues. Recent activities have included work with state and local governments on water withdrawal reporting, water quality standards, NPDES permitting, storm water, brownfields, solid and hazardous waste regulation, underground storage tank insurance, and civil penalties and compliance enforcement. Mr. Yaussy also serves as chairman of the West Virginia Forestry Association Legal Committee.
