The law firm of Robinson & McElwee PLLC will sponsor its 2nd Annual Employer Advocate Seminar from 9:00-12:15 (Breakfast from 8:15-9:00) on September 5th at the Bridgeport Conference Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia. This free, half-day seminar will feature three panel discussions about the ways businesses can prepare for requests to produce electronic information, including e-mails, word processing documents, and financial data, as well as discussing workers compensation insurance and employment practices litigation.
The electronic information panel will focus on the responsibilities of all businesses to produce electronic information on short notice if they are sued or face a government investigation or audit. “Most businesses need to do a better job managing their electronic information, especially e-mails and word processing documents,” according to seminar coordinator Allen Prunty. “Failure to prepare beforehand to deal with these requests can cost a business tens of thousands of dollars.”
The electronic information panel will discuss how businesses can better manage their electronic information in order to prepare for requests to produce this information and gain a competitive edge.
The workers compensation panel will discuss alternatives available to West Virginia employers for workers compensation insurance and the new laws affecting self-insured employers.
The employment practices panel will discuss the employer-insurer relationship and how businesses can avoid claims for wrongful employment practices involving allegations of discrimination, wrongful discharge, and deliberate injuries.
